"Thoughts on Painting"

Painting Outside

I'm not sure if this qualifies as plein air painting. Is it still plein air when you're just kind of being outside and sort of painting what you see, but more or less just kind of painting for the sake of painting and being outside because it's just plain gorgeous and peaceful out there?

This is how I started... you know, "nice"

This is where I started to get bored and frustrated, especially since I was using acrylic and having to constantly mist my palette (next time I'm back to oil...)

And this is where the eff-it attitude kicked in, and the fun happened...

Clearly at this point I stopped looking at my surroundings. I was just being outside, painting.

This one I painted upside-down, but I like this perspective... reminds me of stormy seas.
