Hooked on Maisel

I've had this book sitting on my shelf for several years. t's called "Fearless Creating." If you have that creative bug, maybe you've read it. Or if you're like me, maybe you started to read it once, shrugged, and then put it aside.

I picked it up again this week, and something clicked. I immediately connected with every idea (expressed in an organized, logical, yet personal way) from the very first page. r. Maisel is a psychologist and a fiction writer. Besides being a master of the language, his perspective on how to deeply and truthfully create is dead spot on.

If you're an experienced, emerging, or aspiring visual artist, writer, or performer, I highly recommend this book. If you find being creative "easy" and formulaic, I recommend this book. If you find being creative difficult or frustrating, I recommend this book.

After I'd finished slowly savoring the introduction, Dr. Maisel instructed me to put the book down and go spend a half-hour doing my creative thing... now.  So I did.
